Maryland Motorcycle Written Test
The Maryland MVA (Motor Vehicle Administration) is responsible for the safety and laws governing motor vehicles in the state of Maryland. The mission of the Maryland MVA is to “… provide exemplary driver and vehicle services that promote Maryland’s mobility and safety while enhancing process and product security.”
Riding a motorcycle in MD requires special skills and concentration. The MVA offers riding training courses for new and experienced riders and requires that anyone under the age of 18 must complete either the Basic Rider Course or the Alternate Basic Rider Course before applying for a motorcycle license. If you are over 18, participating in a rider course is voluntary.
A Maryland motorcycle license is a Class “M” license. If you complete the basic rider or alternate basic ride course, you can present the certificate to the MVA for your Class “M” license.
Regardless of taking a motorcycle course, you will need to pass a written exam and understand the rules of the roads in Maryland to obtain your motorcycle license.
