In Idaho, the Idaho Transportation Department / Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) regulates the issuance of Driver Licenses, Identification Cards, Vehicle Registration, and Vehicle Titling. The 44 County Sheriffs and County Assessors are agents of the State and operate all of the DMV offices serving the general public.
If you operate any motorized vehicle on public roadways, Idaho law requires you to have a valid
driver’s license and acceptable proof of liability insurance. If you operate a motorcycle on public roadways, you will also need to add a motorcycle endorsement to your Idaho driver’s license.
