New Drivers

New Florida drivers must provide two forms of ID, proof of date of birth, residence and social security numbers. You can view a complete list of acceptable documents here or in the $CSLINK. You must be 18 or older for an unrestricted drivers license and can apply for your learner’s permit at age 15.

Passing An Education Course

All applicants must show proof that they have completed an education course. You will also be required to pass a vision, hearing, written and driving test before you get your license.

Fees

Your first Florida driver’s license is $27.00. If you need to take the written exam more than one, the re-test fee is $5.00 and the re-test fee for the driving test is $10.

Transferring Your License From Out-Of-State

You will be required to bring one of the following documents:

  1. Certified US Birth Certificate
  2. Valid US Passport
  3. Valid US Military ID Card

And one secondary document:

  1. Out-of-state driver’s license
  2. School record with date-of-birth
  3. Transcript of birth
  4. Insurance policy
  5. US military or dependent card
  6. Immigration form
  7. Marriage certificate
  8. Florida voters registration card
